Commercial Leasing Specialist – Portage, MI

The Hinman Company, a locally owned and leading company in the real estate industry in Southwest Michigan, is currently seeking a Commercial Leasing Associate or Commercial Leasing Manager or Commercial Leasing Director for our commercial division (office/retail/industrial) at our headquarters in Portage, MI. The Hinman Company has multiple office locations throughout southwest Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois, consisting of several divisions, commercial, residential and hospitality.

The Commercial Leasing Associate will focus on our portfolio of office and retail properties in our Kalamazoo, Portage, and Battle Creek markets.

The Commercial Leasing staff collaborates in a team setting to respond to requests for proposals and draft negotiation communications. They will coordinate showings and property tours with prospective tenants, with flexibility to meet the needs of the prospect, including after-hours appointments and tours, and will be required to maintain product and market knowledge to help execute the marketing strategy.

The Commercial Leasing Associate works closely with our Marketing team to promote vacant spaces and our in-house Counsel to draft leases. The Commercial Leasing team will also assist the Construction, Service, and Property Management teams to ensure high tenant satisfaction and retention. This person will develop positive relationships with prospective tenants/business and existing tenants, to negotiate new leases and lease renewals, to achieve the highest occupancy rates.

The ideal candidate for the Commercial Leasing Associate will have a great attitude, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills; the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively; is a team player with a positive, motivating, open and collaborative work style. Must have a minimum of an associate degree and 1 year of direct sales experience. Must be willing to work full-time in-person, at the office, during the workday.
