Hinman Announces Acquisition of Former Manatron, Inc. Building at 510 E Milham Avenue & Repositioning As Milham Tech Center in Portage, Michigan

PORTAGE, MI – The Hinman Company is pleased to announce the acquisition of the former Manatron, Inc. building, at 510 E Milham Avenue, in Portage, Michigan. This is Hinman’s second acquisition in Portage in the last six months, after acquiring a former Ascension Borgess medical office at 7895 Currier Drive. “Having been invested in Portage for many decades, we are pleased to add this flexible building into our diverse managed portfolio of office, retail and multi-family properties. A refresh and rebranding of the property as the Milham Tech Center will position the building for the next generation of business, technology, and research users”, said Roger Hinman, CEO of the Hinman Company.
The single-story, 50,000+ SF multi-tenant building is located on Milham Avenue in Portage, near the intersection of Milham Avenue and S Westnedge Avenue, in close proximity to Interstate 94. Built in 1968, this modernist style building was designed by Stone & Parent Architects of Kalamazoo. Originally constructed as the Great Lakes Computer Center, in partnership between First National (PNC Bank) and American National Bank (Fifth Third Bank) to capitalize on the computerization of banking transactions, the building had been more recently occupied by Manatron, Inc. and its successors, Thomson Reuters and Aumentum Technologies.
The Hinman Company will oversee the management and leasing of the building, which has approximately 38,000 SF of flexible space available for lease today. “We see this as a great opportunity to breathe new life into a largely vacant property and provide an economic boost to the community”, said Hinman.
